On Sunday morning 12th December, 20 Ladies gathered at Melton Mowbray Golf Club to take part in the Ladies’ Section Christmas Competition. The format was a Florida Scramble for the teams of four and the weather was very kind to the field, a balmy 13 degrees with the sun also making an appearance. The competition was played over 9 holes and with 2 drives needed from each team member, there was little room for error.
The event was followed by warming non-alcoholic mulled wine and mince pies before the prize giving by the Lady Captain Margaret Samways. Not only were there prizes for the first three teams, but every player received a gift and a party bag.
The winning team was Julia Brown, Janet Bentley, Jackie Fisher and Kate Britten with a super nett 34.2.
In second place were Jean Moulds, Sue Millward, Gill Hoggan and Liz Clark with 36.6 and in third place were ‘Drina Terzza, Margaret Samways, Avis Webb and Chris Cook with 36.8.
