On Wednesday 13th February, 27 ladies took part in a 3-ball Am Am at Melton Mowbray Golf Club. They took advantage of the kind weather that has been with us for most of February to enjoy the course even in the ‘depths of winter.’ The fairways still allowed the ball to roll quite well, but the greens were very receptive and not easy to read.
The group of Jeanette Holland, Fay Hutton and Gay Cham came in first on count back with 30 points pushing the trio of Pat Barnes, Sandie Hudson and Bettyne Norton into second place.
Most ladies stayed for lunch and a rules presentation and quiz in the afternoon, given by the Lady Captain, Nancy Denny. This included a recap on the top 20 most important changes to the R and A rules introduced in January 2019, as well as testing the ladies’ knowledge of the rules overall. It was a fun and interactive afternoon and one lucky lady, Denise Waldron, got to take home a bottle of Champagne won in the free raffle – a useful prize the day before St Valentine’s Day.
