Competitions Report to Monday 17 February 2014

Club Captain John Squires and match play partner Tom Eadon returned from Portugal having played in the How Did I Do Senior Match Play Knockout Competition National Finals at Quinta do Lago. John and Tom took second place overall over the three days of competition — Well done and congratulations to them both.

The Ladies and Gents Mail on Sunday Teams have played their first round knockout matches this week.
The Ladies’ Team had a home draw against the Belton Park (Grantham) ladies and played in atrocious weather conditions. Sadly the Melton ladies lost by 1 ½ to 3 ½ but a good match took place with all but one of the matches going to the last two holes. Drina Terzza won her game for Melton and Julia Brown got the half.
The Gents’ Team also had a home venue against Beedles Lake. Playing on Sunday in much better weather than the ladies the team also lost with a 2 games for Melton to 3 for Beedles Lake result. The successful Melton players were father and son Steve and Jevan Goddard.
The Monday Morning Mingles this week was won by Bob Luke and Chris Cook with a net 34.6. Sam Wright and Maureen Stapleford finished in second place net 34.8 and Tom Eadon with Elaine Shelton took third spot net 35.6. The best four ball was Terry and Julia Brown with Bob Luke and Chris Cook net 72.8
