Last Thursday evening, 3rd May, the Down to Earth radio show on Radio Leicester was recorded in the clubhouse at MMGC. The “team” of presenters and technicians from the BBC introduced themselves with a little bit of background to their involvement with the programme and Dave Andrews, who presents the show on air, gave the audience a short insight into how the evening would progress.
There were a good number of members and visitors in attendance and quite a number of varied questions. It was a very entertaining and well organised evening with lots of useful information and tips for gardeners covering everything from weed control, dying shrubs and insect problems to winter digging of vegetable plots.

There was also some useful guidance into what could be planted in our newly built planters at the first tee. The programme will go on air on Sunday 20th May.
It should be a good ‘listen’ for anyone who couldn’t make the recording evening. There was curry or chilli available before the recording for those who had pre-booked and a large raffle afterwards with a gardening theme. All in all, the evening was extremely well run and very entertaining. We look forward to the on-air broadcast.
