Joe Carnell wins this year’s RWS (SWS) trophy

Club Captain John Harvey with RWS 2020 trophy winner Joe Carnell

As a result of Covid-19, this year’s prestigious Race to Woodhall Spa Trophy had to be condensed into a Sprint to Woodhall Spa Trophy. However, it has been an exciting and nail biting competition all throughout the 12 gruelling qualifying rounds for the Order of Merit, which was won by Kieron Foster. The top 30 players subsequently had a shootout to see which 5 other players would join him at Woodhall Spa Golf Club.
On the finals day itself at at Woodhall Spa after 9 holes, the scores following some good golf were as follows:
Joe Carnell 19 pts: Kieron Foster 16 pts: Joe Kendall 16 pts: Steve Harrison 14 pts: Richard South 14 pts: Mick Wilson 13 pts

Mick Wilson made a valiant fightback with an excellent 21 pts over the second 9 to reach a very creditable 34 pts. However, the leader Joe Carnell held his nerve and scored another 19 pts to win overall by 4 pts with an excellent total of 38 pts. The final scores were as follows:
Joe Carnell 38 pts: Mick Wilson 34 pts: Kieron Foster 32 pts: Joe Kendall 32 pts: Steve Harrison 29 pts: Richrad South 27 pts.
Congratulations must go to all players in making this year’s final and well done to Joe Carnell on becoming this year’s RWS Champion.
