July 2022 Roundup – Seniors and Ladies

SENIORS
The Melton Mowbray Golf Club Seniors Captain Richard Faubert held his Away Day
Thursday July 7th at Newark Golf Club.
It was a lovely day with excellent weather.  The overall winner was Jerzy Schmidt with 38
Stableford format points, followed by Denis Dayman with 36. Denis beat Al Terzza for 2nd place due to a better back nine score.  Both finished with 36 points.
Closest to the pins awards went to David Bentley on the 2nd hole, Nigel Vernon on the 5th
hole, Brian Cole on the 15th hole and Nigel Vernon again on the 17th hole.
The Seniors enjoyed a very nice meal after golf consisting of shrimp salad starter, pork loin
main course and sticky toffee pudding for desert.

The Seniors from Melton Mowbray Golf Club travelled to Cotgrave on Thursday the 14th of
July for a match against the Seniors of The Nottinghamshire Golf Club. The result was an
honourable 4-4 draw.

All matches were close with the exception of the first match in which Captain Richard Faubert
and his partner Phil Millward lost the The Nottinghamshire’s Captain Grant Williams and his
partner Ian Ingram 6 holes up with only 4 left to play.  Winners for Melton Mowbray were the
pairs of Dick Chapman and Ray Stone, Haydn Snow and Richard Grieve, Roger Merchant
and Richard Haines, and Vice Captain Charlie Chapman with Julien Kisiel.

LADIES
Last week saw the second round of the President’s Putter. In a very close contest after two rounds the
overall winner of the President’s Putter was Liz Snow with a nett 145 shots (72 +73) from Jeanette
Holland nett 146 (75 + 71) with Alison Gatward on 147 (73 +74)
