Seniors’ Roundup – May 18th

Round 2 of the Paddy Doyle Salver competition was won by Neil Farish with 40 points followed by joint second placed David Bailey and Brian Wray and Julian Kisiel on 36 points. Third place was a 4 way tie between Robin Jones, Richard Grieve, David Gatward and Stephen Harris all with 35 points. The winner of each round scoring 10 points, second placed players receiving 9 points, third place 8 points and so on down to 10th place receiving 1 point. The overall winner was Neil Farish who having won both rounds finished with 20 points. In second place with 18 points was Brian Wray way ahead of third placed Richard Grieve on 13 points and joint 4th were John Squires and Stephen Harris with 11 points.

Tuesday 17th May results: The Seniors’ Matchday Stableford was won by John Squires with 37 points. In second place was Gianfranco Vignati with 36 points and then a 3 way tie for third place. On count-back, with a better back 9, Bob Parkinson took the third spot with 33 points.

The Seniors match against Sleaford was very close and Melton Mowbray Golf Club managed to post a win with 4.5 to 3.5. Denis Dayman and his partner finished last with a hard won half securing the result. Denis is unbeaten in the Seniors’ team this year. It just shows you can’t beat a good old one.
