Melton Mowbray B Team hosted last year’s Leicestershire B team League winners Whetstone on Wednesday 17th April. Whetstone were hoping to continue their very successful season from last year with another win at Melton Mowbray. However, the tables were turned and Melton came out on top with a 5 nil whitewash, although some of the matches were very close and hard fought out until the 18th hole.
On what was a perfect day for golf, the sun was shining and there was very little breeze and the course was in very good condition; the scene was set for some excellent golf. Both teams did not disappoint. However, Melton came out on top and the winning pairings were as follows: B Team Captain John Harvey and Ian Solloway won 2 up, Richard Grieve and Ade Grant won 2 up, Alan Newton and Paul Hackett won 4 & 3, Phil Curtis and Kev Robertson won 2 & 1, Jack Inguanta and Brian Cole won 1 up. Hopefully this win bodes well for the rest of the season which, for Melton, continues next month with an away match against Forest Hill Golf Club.
