Melton Ladies enjoy final flourish in friendly matches

In the past 10 days, Melton Ladies have hosted Sleaford at home, played in the 4way friendly at Belton Woods and travelled to Nuneaton for the final friendly match of the season. On Thursday 26th September in pale sunshine, MMGC Ladies welcomed 8 Sleaford players for a 4ball better ball match.  Melton took an early lead and this was built on by the entire team with the final score registered at 31/2 to 1/2.  Winning pairs were Lady Captain Nancy Denny and Janet Bentley 3 and 1, Dee Hughes and Jackie Fisher 2 up, Lesley Twigg and Bettyne Norton 2 up and Joan Allen and Margaret Samways securing the half.  On Wednesday 2nd October, 8 ladies travelled to Belton Woods to play alongside teams from Spalding, Greetham Valley and Belton Woods.  Individual Stableford scores were recorded and the best 6 overall scores from each team were to count.  With a super performance from Pat Barnes, Melton Ladies secured second place with 206 points.  In the final friendly of the season, on Friday 4th October, Melton Ladies played at Nuneaton on an almost dry day and secured a draw to end the 2019 season in a very friendly fashion.
