After a rained delayed start, Melton Seniors took on a strong Ruddington side, but showed their positive competitive nature by coming out 6 1/2 to 1 1/2 winners. The weather was somewhat cooler than previous weeks, but the fairways were still hard and the greens were difficult to play, with balls bouncing high and running long on impact.
The points came from the following pairings: Seniors’ Vice Captain Dick Chapman and Eddie Cham won 7 & 5, Tom Eadon and Ken Kirk won 1 up, Bob Luke and Brian Wray won 6 & 4, Don Benzie and Dennis Dayman halved, Dave Wells and Bob Parkinson won 1 up, with the final pairing of Julien Kisiel winning 3 & 2.
