Successful and high scoring Seniors’ Open Day

A large entrant of 128 Senior Golfers, comprising of 52 club members and 76 visitors, turned out for the Melton Golf Club Seniors Open on Tuesday 8th May. The course was in excellent condition, thanks to the hard work of both green staff and artisans working long hours to prepare it. The course condition and pleasant weather set the scene for high standards of golf, which as the results show, included some high scoring.
The Club Captain Glenn Price awarded the 1st prize to the overall winners, Geoff Townsend (left) and David Taylor with an excellent 46 points.  In 2nd place were D Hargreaves and G Hallam (Radcliffe on Trent) with 43 points, 3rd were Vince King and Chris Ward with 42 points and finally in 4th place on count back were Phil Curtis and Mezz Watchhorn with 40 points.
The longest Drive for over 70s was won by Richard Faubert, and the longest drive for U70s was won by Club Vice Captain Gerry Stephens. Nearest the pin for over 70s was won by 86 year old Brian Street a member at MMGC and the U70s nearest the pin winner was Mr Taberner (Kettering GC).
The whole day was just perfect so an additional thank you must go to the ladies in the half way house, the staff in the club house, the office and the Club Professional Tony Westward.
