Over the past week, Melton Mowbray ladies took on Greetham Valley Golf Club twice in Round 1 of the Taskers competition. The event was played over two rounds with the first being at Greetham Valley on the 19th April. The format was two ball matchplay with seven teams taking part. The Lakes Course was playing well in the dry weather with a lot of run on the ball. Greetham came away with a 4-3 advantage with Nancy Denny (2 & 1), Dee Hughes (7 & 6) and Karen Middleton (1 up) securing the wins for Melton.
In the return match played on the 26th April and in glorious sunshine, the ladies from MMGC had their work cut out to ensure passage through to the next round. For many of the matches the scores were nip and tuck, but Melton came away with a 5-2 home win, making 8-6 on aggregate and a place in the next round. Winners for the Melton team were Sue Hitchman (4 & 3), Nancy Denny (1 up), Jean Moulds (1 up), Dee Hughes (7 & 5) and Liz Snow (4 & 3).
