MELTON SENIORS PRESERVE THEIR WINNING WAYS

A wet and windy morning greeted both teams as Melton Seniors played their first away match of the season at Rutland County on Wednesday May 2nd. Persistent rain for all but the last few holes made the conditions difficult for all players and a 4-4 draw was perhaps a fitting result, preserving Melton’s unbeaten record. After the match, a minute’s silence was observed in remembrance of past captain Frank Williams and Gunvar Carrington, a past member and wife of Joe Carrington, a regular member of the Seniors team, who both passed away recently.

Scoring pairs for Melton were: Club captain Glenn Price and Ken Kirk (3 and 2), Haydn Snow and David Bentley (2 up), vice captain Dick Chapman and Bob Luke (4 and 2) with Richard Haines and Denis Dayman and Richard Grieve and Ray Stone obtaining creditable halves.
