Melton Seniors, led out by Seniors’ Captain Dick Chapman, took on a very experienced Stanton side. With a course in excellent condition and sunshine from the onset, Melton were up against it as home advantage could be the deciding factor. With the first couple of matches going to the home side, Dick’s team selection would certainly be put to the test.
The overall outcome was a well earned draw with 4 wins each and the points for Melton came from the following pairings: Haydn Snow and Ken Longbottom won 2 & 1: Richard Haines and Nigel Vernon won 1 up: Pat Lee and John Squires won 3 & 2: David Bentley and Ray Stone and Bob Luke and Pete Rayers all earned a well deserved half each.
