The annual mixed weekend away this year was at Forest Pines near Scunthorpe. 32 players took part over the Sunday and Monday in what for the most part were good conditions. The last 4 ball on the Sunday, included the organiser who had ordered good weather, being the only one to get caught in the rain.
The format was a betterball stableford and Sunday’s winners were Gordon Hughes/Paul Britton/Drina Terzza and Bettyne Norton scoring 77 followed by Dick Chapman/John Waldron/Charlene Chapman(honorary lady for the day) and Maureen McCall with 75 and in third place were Phil Millward/John Squires/Elaine Howarth and Janet Bentley on 72 points.
On the Monday 1 of our four balls managed to get themselves lost. After playing the second hole of the back nine and walking for what seemed like forever, they found themselves on the tee for the 6th. Clearly maps and compasses need to be issued to some of our players. Mondays winners were Nick McDonald/Dennis Dayman/Gill Hoggan and Liz Snow on 72 points followed by Phil Millward/Paul Britton/Denise Waldron and Bettyne Norton on 71 and third were Dick Chapman/Steve Middleton/Elaine Howarth and Dee Hughes on 69 points.
