MMGC Juniors played their first match in the Leicestershire Junior League at home against Scraptoft.
They started well with the Junior Captain, George Boddy, gaining a half point in a close finish. James Parker was in control until a late comeback from his opponent forced him to the last hole where, despite giving a shot, he managed to halve the hole and win the match 1up.
Ed Thompson played a good steady match to win 3 & 1, followed by a convincing 6 & 4 win from Jack Griffin to gain the team victory.
Will Fairbrother scored an impressive 3 & 2 win in his first competitive game for the club. James Cartwright also made a good debut and despite losing a few holes at the start of the game, played very well to stay in touch with his opponent up to the 15th hole.
The final result was Melton 4 1/2 – Scraptoft 1 1/2.
