On Thursday 30th August, Melton C Team knew they were in for a hard match against Sleaford, who are a very formidable team at home, and Melton were to experience impressive play from the home side. The course was in excellent condition and greens unaffected by the hot weather, due to excellent work by their ground staff.
Sleaford came out on top with a 4 1/2 points to 1 1/2, but this did not reflect how hard the matches were fought out. Club Captain Glenn Price and Andy Pedlar lost on the last when a long putt by Andy just lipped out and gave their opponents a 1up win. The Melton points came from Colin Kitchen and Steve Tagg, who produced an excellent exhibition of golf to produce an amazing 7&6 win. Team captain Adrian Green and Mark Lewis fought hard to stay in touch with their opponents and returned with a very creditable half.
