The first Leicestershire and Rutland Scratch League Team match of the season took place at Melton Golf Club, between Melton Golf Club and Humberstone Golf Club on Thurs 26th April. Both teams consisted of 8 single handicap golfers teamed up against each other in match play format over 18 holes.
Gerry Stephens (Club Vice Captain) took over the reins as Scratch Team Captain for 2018 from Guy Rayson who has been successfully leading the team for many years and he has done an outstanding job. Both Captains praised the green staff and the Artisans for all their hard work in preparing the course to such a high standard for their match. The pairs teed off at 4:30pm and everyone completed 18 holes by 8:15pm which enabled them all to finish before the light faded shortly after. The outcome of the match was 7 wins to 1 win in favour of the Melton Team.
The winning players were: Matt Catton 10&8,Craig Hallam 3&1,Dale Radford 4&2,Gerry Stephens 5&3,Guy Rayson 2up,Sam Pollard 4&3,David Poolan 5&3.
The next Match is away at Forest Hill on 10 May.
